LAW 1017: Privacy in Employment Law

Course Description

This writing seminar explores employer and employee expectations regarding privacy in the workplace and the role of emerging technology. Students will review a combination of primary source materials, such as cases, statutes, company codes of conduct and employee contracts, and secondary materials, such as law review articles, practice manuels, and media reports. Topics of discussion will include pre-employment inquiries and screening, workplace investigations, monitoring of off-duty behavior, computer usage and data privacy protection.
