Spring 2024 • Section 51
• CRN 26024
Course Description
This class will begin your preparation for the bar exam, both the multiple choice test questions and the essay and performance test questions. The Multistate Bar Exam (MBE), a 200 multiple-choice question test administered in almost every US jurisdiction that accounts for up to 50% of a bar examinee’s score, covers seven subjects: (1) Criminal Law and Procedure; (2) Constitutional Law;(3) Contracts; (4) Evidence; (5) Torts; (6) Civil Procedure, and (7) Real Property. These subjects are also regularly covered in the Multistate Essay Exam (MEE), a 6-essay question test administered as part of the Universal Bar Exam (UBE), which has been adopted in the majority of US jurisdictions. This course covers four of these core topics: (1) Real Property; (2) Civil Procedure; (3) Contracts; and (4) Torts. Every week, students will work to improve study habits and exam techniques, including becoming a self-regulated learner, time management, test anxiety, reading skills, MBE and MEE question styles, avoiding deceptive wrong answers, organizing essay answers, and the performance test. Students will get individualized feedback on draft essay answers and direct review of MBE questions on each subject. There will be a final exam that consists of 100 MBE questions (to simulate one-half of the MBE portion of the bar exam) and 1-2 essay questions.
