Students in this section of Real Estate Transactions, taught by an experienced practitioner, will examine the principles and practices that govern the transfer, development and financing of commercial real estate, from multiple perspectives and under real world conditions. Students will become counsel to the property owner, developer, government and lender and will receive practical hands-on training in the procedures and skills employed by lawyers in this field. Exercises will include the negotiation and drafting of contracts of sale and development agreements, the preparation of land use applications and presentations to regulating agencies and courts. The grade will be based on the student’s performance in these exercises, class participation and the final exam.
