LAW 1053: Mindful Lawyering: Techniques for Effective Counseling, Negotiation, and Advocacy

Course Description

This course is designed to teach students mindfulness practices and to explore how those practices can enhance their effectiveness in various lawyering skill areas. These include the ability to: (1) listen to, counsel, and work effectively with, clients; (2) identify and deploy negotiating strategies that maximize value for all parties; (3) mediate conflicts, (4) advocate for desired legal and social outcomes; (5) develop leadership skills; and (6) maintain balance and focus in high stress professional environments.
