Course Description

Individuals, criminal organizations, and nation states now all have the capacity to harm modern societies through cyber attacks, ransomware, data breaches, cyber espionage, and disinformation campaigns. These threats put human rights, economies and national security at risk. And the threat is growing in scale and intensity that will only be amplified by the introduction of Artificial Intelligence tools. This course will explore how law, including domestic and international law, regulate cybercrimes as well as State and State-sponsored behavior online. It will also analyze current debates over the appropriate vehciles and models for governance of cyberspace and governance in cyberspace to ensure it can be more safe, secure, and rights-respecting.
