Course Description

Intellectual property (IP) law is crucial in protecting creations of the mind, such as inventions, literary and artistic works, designs, symbols, and brands. In the 21st century, with the rise of technology and digital innovation, IP law has become increasingly important to safeguard innovation, incentivize creativity, and ensure that creators and businesses can reap the rewards of their work while society at large can enjoy the fruits of others’ creativity. IP law aims to balance those conflicting interests in the creation and exploitation of information goods. Understanding IP law is essential for navigating today’s economy, where intangible assets often hold more value than physical goods, and both infringement risks and new usage opportunities are widespread. This course will take a deep dive into several cutting-edge topics in IP law discourse.
