Course Description

This course is designed to be taken in tandem with the Family Justice Clinic. The course will focus on the substantive, procedural and practice issues which arise in representing families impacted by state intervention in an array of legal matters. This course will combine the theoretical and practical aspects of lawyering by covering topics such as basic lawyering skills, legal theory, and the role of lawyers in promoting justice for families. The seminar will also include regular case rounds where students can collectively strategize about actual cases and advocacy projects while engaging in critical self-reflection about lawyering and professional responsibility.

This course is open only to students enrolled in the Temple Legal Aid Office Family Justice Clinic. Students enrolled in the clinic will be automatically enrolled in this course. This course does not fulfill the upper level writing requirement. 3 credit pass/fail cl inic & 2 credit graded seminar.
