Course Description
Under the supervision of the professor, third-year law students will handle appeals currently pending in the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit as well as the Pennsylvania Superior Court. Students will provide court-appointed, pro bono representation to appellants/petitioners in immigration appeals, habeas corpus proceedings, prisoner civil rights litigation, mortgage foreclosures, landlord/tenant disputes, and termination of parental rights cases. The clinic will handle all aspects of representation for at least two existing appeals during each academic year.

Additional Time Requirements
3L and 4 LE students only. Students will receive 4 credits (2 seminar credits graded and 2 clinic credits on pass/fail basis). To earn clinic credits, students must spend 8-10 hours per week working on their assigned appeal and must keep a detailed log of their time and activity. Time logs will be due no later than Monday 5 pm for the preceding week. To earn seminar credits, students must attend a weekly two-hour seminar and complete all assignments for that course, which will include the submission of bi-weekly journal entries in which students respond to specific prompts designed to elicit their reflections on the clinical training they are receiving as well as on the work they are performing.
