LAW 0790: Access to Justice Clinic
Spring 2027 • Section 21

Course Description

This course concerns the massive civil “justice gap” in the US, i.e., the unavailability of legal help for most people with civil justice problems. The clinical component typically includes work with local organizations (non-profits, courts, others) on projects aimed at narrowing the “gap,” and may also include some direct representation. Students develop skills in collaborating with external organizations; project planning; interviewing; research and information-gathering; analyzing substantive law, procedure, and the actual working of administrative agencies and courts; identifying systemic barriers and developing solutions and strategies by which to achieve them; and written and oral advocacy.
